Love Boat

by K. Lee and A. Sauber

If you have not seen Titanic, you are missing "the show of a lifetime." Although the movie lasts approximately 3 1/2 hours, the time seems to fly by as you are suspensefully held on the edge of your seat. Portrayed in this movie are the lives of Jack, played by Leonardo Dicaprio, and Rose, played by Kate Winslet, are two young adults who give a true meaning to the saying "opposites attract." Jack, who won his ticket in a poker game, and Rose, who was accompanied by her rich fiance, met on the first night of the voyage when Rose was contemplating suicide. Jack stopped Rose from taking this tragic step. It was love at first sight on Jack's behalf, but Rose, on the other hand, needed some more convincing.

As time passed, Jack and Rose's friendship flourished into something much deeper. When everything seemed perfect between them, disaster struck. The ship caught the edge of an iceberg and began to sink. They stood beside each other, even when Jack was arrested and chained in the bottom floor of the ship. Rose returned Jack's favor and saved his life. Left with no other choice, the couple plunged into the icy water as the ship went down. Jack froze while waiting for a boat to come save them. However, Rose survived and took on the name Dawson, which was Jack's last name. The emotions and thoughts this film provokes cannot be described in words. It is one of those circumstances where you have to experience it for yourself. So if you have not seen it, grab a box of Kleenex and go see this movie while it is still showing in the theater.
